The To the Commentary-Genera by Apollonius is a grammatical treatise by the second-century CE scholar Herodian of Alexandria. It constitutes a critical commentary on the work On Genera by his father, the foundational grammarian Apollonius Dyscolus. The text, now lost and surviving only in fragments, addressed the systematic analysis of grammatical gender in Greek nouns. It analyzed the rules for determining whether nouns were masculine, feminine, or neuter, providing scholarly exegesis and refinement of Apollonius Dyscolus’s grammatical theories.
