Ἵνα μὴ ἐν τῇ στάκτῃ ὑπὸ τῆς τέφρας ἀναλωθῇ, τινὲς ὄξος ἔβαλλον, ἄλλοι καὶ οὖρον· ἄλλοι ὕδωρ τινὲς ἀποστάξαντες πάντα ἰδίως ἔμιξαν, καὶ κάλλιον ἐποίησαν, ἢ οὔρῳ καὶ ὄξει ποιήσαντες· καὶ τὸ ὅλον ἔφησαν στάκτη ν . Τινὲς τούτῳ τῷ ὕδατι τὰς οἰκείας βοτάνας βαλόντες καὶ ζυμῶσαι καλέσαντες, κρόκον καὶ ἐλύδριον καὶ μηλέας φύλλα καὶ τὰ ὅμοια λειώσαντες ὄξει νίτρῳ. Ἄλλοι καὶ στυπτηρίαν καὶ μύσι ὀπτὸν καὶ κυανὸν καὶ ὕδωρ θεῖον· καὶ ποιήσαντες μάζαν, καὶ μετὰ τὸ συνιδρῶσαι καὶ τὸ ζωμῶσαι, ἐχάλασαν εἰς τὸ ξανθὸν ὕδωρ καὶ ἥψησαν τὸ σύνθεμα, ὕστερον κεράσαντες μέλιτι καὶ βαλσάμῳ καὶ ὄξει· ἐν δὲ τῇ λειώσει οὕτως καὶ ἐν τῷ ὄξει ὀλίγον ζύμης δριμυτέρας καὶ μοσχίου χολήν.
