Καὶ τότε βερωνικιάζεις τὸ σίδηρον, καὶ πυρρόνεις, καὶ στεγνόνεις το καλῶς. Εἶτα τὸ πλουμίζεις, καὶ γράφεις ἐπ’ αὐτῷ ὅ τι θέλεις, ποιεῖς ἐπάνω εἰς τὸ βερονίκην μετὰ σιδηροῦν πονταρώλην. Εἶτα ἔχε φάρμακον λευκὸν ἤγουν σουλιμὰ, καὶ τρίψον αὐτὸν λεπτὰ πολλά. Καὶ τότε τὸν βάλλε εἰς ἀγγεῖον, καὶ βάλλε καὶ οὖρος ἀνθρώπινον καὶ ἀνακάτωσέ το καλῶς. Καὶ τότε χρίε τὰ γράμματα μετὰ πτεροῦ, τὰ ἔχεις γραμμένα εἰς τὸ σίδηρον, καὶ πύρονε αὐτὸ εἰς θέρμην πυρὸς, ἵνα στεγνόνῃ. Καὶ πάλιν τὸ χρίε καὶ στέγνονε αὐτὸ ἕως ὥρας γʹ καλές· καὶ ὅταν ἴδῃς ὅτι ἔφαγεν τὸ νερὸν τὸ σίδηρον καὶ λάκκωσεν, κάμε να τὸ λευκόνῃς πολλὰ δυνατὰ, ὥστε να εὐγάλῃς τὸ φαρμάκην καὶ τὸ οὖρος παντελῶς ἀπὸ τὰ γράμματα. Καὶ χρὴ να τὸ κρατῇς μετὰ μανδίλιον καθαρὸν ἄσπρον, να μὴ δὲν ἔχῃ ῥύπον, καὶ να προσέχῃς να μὴ δέν σου κορνιαχτιστοῦν τὰ γράμματα. Καὶ τότε ἔχε χρυσάφην ἀπὸ φλουρία βενέτικα, καὶ κοπάνισον αὐτὸ εἰς τὸ ἀκμόνην με τὸ σφύρην, να γένῃ λεπτὸν ὡς τριαντάφυλλα. Εἶτα κόψε το κομματόπουλα μικρὰ μικρὰ, καὶ ἔχε τοῦτο. Εἶτα σείρωσον τὴν ὑδράργυρον μετὰ καμούτζας σφικτὰ, καὶ μίαν καὶ δύο φορὰς να καθαρίζει ἀπὸ ῥύπον· καὶ τότε βάλλε χωνὴν εἰς τὸ καμίνην χρυσοχόου, ἵνα κοκκινήσῃ, καὶ εὔγαλον αὐτὸ ἔξω· καὶ τότε βάλλε τὸ χρυσάφην ἀπέσω εἰς τὸ χωνὴν, καὶ βάλλε καὶ ἀπὸ τὴν ὑδάργυρον, καὶ συχνοτάραζε τὸ χωνὴν, καὶ λείεται τὸ χρυσάφην, καὶ γίνεται ἕνα με τὴν ὑδάργυρον. |
