Ι 392 ὅστις οἷ: εἰς ἁπλῆν μεταλαμβάνεται ἡ ἀντωνυμία, ὅστις αὐτῷ, ὅμως δὲ ὠρθοτονήθη. περισπασθήσεται οὖν. δείκνυται ἐν τοῖς περὶ ἀντωνυμιῶν ὡς ὅτι ἡ ἐμοί ἐπὶ δοτικῆς καὶ ἔτι ἡ σοί ὀξύνονται. ἡ δὲ οἷ περιεσπάσθη ἀνακολούθως. M. 496, 18 κα τ ’ ἐμαυτό ν : ἰστέον ὅτι ἡ εὐθεῖα ἐμαυτός καὶ ἐγαυτός οὐ δύναται εἶναι· ὅτι πᾶσα σύνθετος ἀντωνυμία θέλει εἶναι καὶ ὁμοιόπτωτος καὶ ὁμοιοπρόσωπος καὶ ἰσάριθμος οἷον τὸ ἐμαυτοῦ καὶ ἰσαριθμόν ἐστι καὶ ὁμοιόπτωτον καὶ ὁμοιοπρόσωπον ἀπὸ τοῦ ἐμοῦ αὐτοῦ. ἀμφότερα γὰρ τό τ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ αὐτοῦ ἑνικά ἐστι καὶ τρίτου προσώπου καὶ πτώσεως γενικῆς. ἐὰν οὖν γένηται ἡ εὐθεῖα τούτων ἐμαυτός, ἔμελλεν εἶναι ἀνομοιόπτωτος, ὅπερ ἐστὶν ἀδύνατον ἐπὶ συνθέτου ἀντωνυμίας. τὸ γὰρ αὐτός ἐστὶν εὐθεῖα, τὸ δὲ ἐμέ αἰτιατικὴ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν εὐθεῖα· ἀπὸ γὰρ τοῦ ἐμός οὐκ ἠδύνατο γενέσθαι, ἐπειδὴ οὐδέποτε κτητικὴ ἀντωνυμία ποιεῖ σύνθετον ἀντωνυμίαν. ἀπὸ γὰρ τῶν πρωτοτύπων ἀντωνυμιῶν γίνονται αἱ σύνθετοι ἀντωνυμίαι οἷον ἐμοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐμαυτοῦ, ἐμοὶ αὐτῷ ἐμαυτῷ, ἐμὲ αὐτόν ἐμαυτόν. ἐγαυτός οὐ δύναται εἶναι, ἐπειδὴ αἱ σύνθεται ἀντωνυμίαι πρότερον ἐν τῇ ἁπλότητι τὰς δύο συνθέσεις ἐπιδέχονται, τήν τε αὐτοπαθῆ καὶ τὴν ἀλλοπαθῆ καὶ οὕτω συντίθενται οἷον ἐμοῦ ἤκουσας καὶ ἐμοῦ ἤκουσα. διὰ τοῦτο γὰρ ἐπενοήθησαν αἱ σύνθετοι ἀντωνυμίαι, ἵνα διάκρισιν ποιήσωσι τῆς ἀλλοπαθοῦς καὶ σχῶσι τὸ αὐτοπαθὲς μόνον, αἱ δὲ ἁπλαῖ τὸ ἀλλοπαθές. τὸ οὖν ἐγὼ αὐτός, ἐπειδὴ ἐν τῇ ἁπλότητι οὐκ ἐπιδέχεται τὰς δύο συντάξεις τήν τε ἀλλοπαθῆ καὶ τὴν αὐτοπαθῆ, εἰκότως οὐ δύναται ποιῆσαι σύνθετον ἀντωνυμίαν.
3,2 846 ὅτι γὰρ ἡ ἐγὼ αὐτός τὴν ἀλλοπαθῆ μόνον ἔχει καὶ οὐχὶ τὴν αὐτοπαθῆ, δῆλον ἐντεῦθεν· λεγόντων ἡμῶν ἐγὼ αὐτὸς ἤκουσα, λέγοντος τίνος; ἆρα Σωκράτους; οὐκ, ἀλλὰ Ἀλκιβιάδου· ὥστε οὖν ἀλλοπαθής ἐστιν, αὐτοπαθὴς δὲ οὐ δύναται εἶναι ἡ ἐγὼ αὐτός, ἐπειδὴ οὐδέποτε εὐθεῖα εἰς εὐθεῖαν δρᾷ ἤγουν ἐνεργεῖ. οὐδεὶς γὰρ λέγει Σωκράτης Πλάτων ἤκουσεν, ἀλλὰ Σωκράτης Πλάτωνος ἤκουσεν. ἐπειδὴ οὖν ἐγὼ αὐτὸς εὐθεῖαί εἰσι δύο, ἡ ἐγώ καὶ αὐτός, τούτου χάριν οὐ δύναται εἶναι αὐτοπαθής. τοιαῦτα ἔχομεν εἰπεῖν καὶ περὶ τοῦ μὴ δύνασθαι στῆναι τὸ ἐγὼ αὐτός καὶ τὰ δυϊκὰ καὶ τὰ πληθυντικά. I 399, 31 τευ: «ὥστε τευ ἢ παρὰ πάμπαν ἀνείμονος ἠὲ πενιχροῦ» (γ 348). τὸ τευ ὄνομα νῦν ἀόριστον· τὸ δὲ «τεῦ δμώς εἰς ἀνδρῶν; τεῦ δ’ ὄρχατον» (ω 257) πυσματικόν ἐστι. τὸ μὲν οὖν πρῶτόν ἐστι τοῦ, ὅπερ σύνηθες Ἀττικοῖς, ὃ κατὰ διάλυσιν τέο «τέο μέχρις ὀδυρόμενος;» (Ω 128)· συναλειφόμενον δὲ γίνεται τεῦ ὡς ἐμοῦ ἐμεῦ, σοῦ σεῦ ἐκ τοῦ ἐμέο καὶ σέο. τὸ τέο τετόλμηκεν Ἀρχίλοχος «τεοῦ χολούμενος» εἰπεῖν ἀντὶ τοῦ τίνος. ἡ δοτικὴ τέῳ καὶ τὸ ἀόριστον αὐτοῦ ὅτεῳ καὶ ἐπὶ γενικῆς «ὅττεό σε χρή» (α 124). τοῦτο τὸ ὄνομα αἰτιατικὴν καὶ ὀρθὴν οὐκ ἔχει. ὡσαύτως καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν πληθυντικῶν «ὅτεών τε πόλιν καὶ γαῖαν ἱκάνω» (κ 39) καὶ «ὁτέοισιν» (Ο 491).
