The title indicates it was a scholarly collection of excerpts or discussions pertaining to the narratives of the Trojan War, consistent with the author’s other mythographic works. It would have treated the events and heroes of the Trojan epic cycle, and the term “Fragments” suggests a compiled collection drawn from earlier sources. Following the author’s attested methodology elsewhere, it likely provided rationalizing explanations for mythical events. The work is completely lost, with no other ancient or medieval source preserving any portion of its text. While its direct influence is untraceable, as a product of Dionysius Scytobrachion—whose works were used by historians like Diodorus Siculus—it represents the Hellenistic tradition of scholarly, prose mythography that sought to systematize epic tradition for a learned audience.
