Eudemus of Rhodes and Peripatetic Philosophy at the Lyceum

Eudemus of Rhodes, fourth century BCE, is the name this site attaches to a hearer of Aristotle at the Lyceum who later returned to Rhodes and is said to have taught there.

His writings survive only in fragments and later references. Hosts name work on Aristotle’s Physics and on ἠθική. The Eudemian Ethics is a heading in the Aristotelian corpus, not a recovered signature of Eudemus.

He is also credited with lost histories of geometry, arithmetic, and astronomy. A fragment here is later report, not those books.
