Aristocles of Messene, Peripatetic. Dates uncertain; later scholarship places him in the first century CE rather than the fourth century BCE, on the strength of his critiques of post-Aristotelian schools.
He is named as teacher of Alexander of Aegae, who later taught Nero. His only known work is On Philosophy, in at least ten books, surviving in fragments quoted by Eusebius.
