Aristotle of Stagira, 384–322 BCE. His father served the Macedonian court. He heard Plato at the Academy for about twenty years. After Plato’s death he left Athens, spent time in Asia Minor, and tutored Alexander. He returned in 335 BCE and taught at the Lyceum. He left again in 323 BCE and died the next year.
What this site holds is the school-treatises in Greek: Physics (Φυσικά), the books later headed Metaphysics (τὰ μετὰ τὰ φυσικά), Nicomachean Ethics (Ἠθικὰ Νικομάχεια), Politics, Poetics, and the logical books. Later tradition says the more public writings are lost. The exact list and order remain a matter of the manuscript tradition, from Andronicus onward.
The Greek of these books speaks of οὐσία, ἐνέργεια, δύναμις, ἀρετή, ψυχή, λόγος. A treatise here is a Greek book under his name as the corpus now stands, not a handbook of later Latin partitions.
