The Paraphrase of the Categories opens by dividing names into tautonyms, heteronyms, and intermediates, then ὁμώνυμα, συνώνυμα, and παρώνυμα. Ὁμώνυμα share a name but not the λόγος τῆς οὐσίας: ζῷον is both the living man and the painting. Homonymy by chance is Alexander Paris and Alexander of Macedon; by design, analogy (unit of number, point of a line, spring of a river, heart of an animal).
The paraphrase then walks Aristotle’s ten κατηγορίαι — οὐσία, ποσόν, ποιόν, πρός τι, ποῦ, ποτέ, κεῖσθαι, ἔχειν, ποιεῖν, πάσχειν — with the fourfold cut of said-of and in-a-subject, and with examples such as this man, this white, ἐπιστήμη in the ψυχή.
The slot is that Byzantine restatement of the Κατηγορίαι, not a nameless commentator with nothing to say.
