Historical Fragments Anonymous Pergamene Chronicle in Greek

The Pergamene Chronicle is a lost historical work known only from a brief citation by the 9th-century Byzantine scholar Photius in his Bibliotheca. Photius classifies it as a chronicle, grouping it with the works of Eusebius and Andronicus. No continuous text survives, and its precise content, chronological scope, and date of composition remain entirely unknown. Based on its title and origin from the major Hellenistic center of Pergamon, it likely presented a chronological record of events, incorporating both mythical and historical material. Its probable subjects included the local history and foundation myths of the city, as well as synchronisms linking Pergamene events with the wider history of the Greek world and the Near East. The chronicle is preserved solely as a reference in Photius's work and is collected among the fragments of lost Greek historians. It possesses no independent manuscript tradition.
