This is a modern fictional vehicle for a modern point about copyrighting public-domain literature. Nikarchos of Sinope is not a historical author. There is no manuscript, and the piece is not an ancient work.
The dialogue says that point in Greek. Eukrates has recovered the songs of Stesichorus. Antilochus teaches them for a fee, as if the recovery made them his. What is recovered stays common. The preface, the signs, and the reasons the editor wrote remain his.
