Fragments on Italic History

The Fragments on Italic History is a lost prose work attributed to the Hellenistic biographer and paradoxographer Antigonus of Carystus. Surviving only as a handful of excerpts preserved by later authors, the work contained biographical and historical notes on figures associated with Italy, consistent with Antigonus’s known interest in philosophical and intellectual lives. The extant fragments indicate a focus on biographical sketches of philosophers, artists, and other notable individuals connected to Italy, particularly within the context of Greek intellectual history in Magna Graecia.
