Syrianus of Athens and Neoplatonic Commentary

Syrianus, fifth century CE, is the name this site attaches to the scholarch of the Platonic school in Athens after Plutarch of Athens, teacher of Proclus who succeeded him. He taught while the empire was publicly Christian.

What this site holds is a commentary on parts of Aristotle's Metaphysics, in which he answers Aristotle on Plato, including εἶδος and ἰδέα. Many other books are lost: commentaries on Homer, on Orphic verse, on Plato's Phaedrus, and treatises on θεολογία and rhetoric. Some rhetorical titles are doubted.
