Dioscorides of Anazarbus was a Greek ἱατρός of the 1st century CE, from Anazarbus in Cilicia, active in the early Roman Empire. His own preface says he travelled widely.
What this site holds is the Greek On Medical Material in five books, together with On Simple Medicines and the entry On Peony and What It Can Do. A Latin title sometimes printed for the five books is a later label, not the Greek heading.
The work lists plants, minerals, and animal products and groups them by δύναμις, not by alphabet. Other books later attached to his name are a separate heading.
