Soranus of Ephesus on Women's Medicine and Bandages

4 works

Soranus of Ephesus was a Greek ἱατρός of the 2nd century CE. He practised in Alexandria and in Rome under Trajan and Hadrian. Later writers group him with the Methodics.

What this site holds is the four-book Gynecology, together with On Bandages, On Signs of Fractures, and the Life of Hippocrates According to Soranus. Other titles are lost or uncertain.

On Bandages and On Signs of Fractures survive as excerpts in later compilers. The life of Hippocrates is transmitted partly through later Latin. A book here travels under his name; it is not a Methodic system.
