Anonymous Parodies and Fragments of Roman-Era Parody

Anonymous Parodies is the conventional designation for an anonymous poet of the 2nd–3rd century CE. No biographical details survive. The author composed within the tradition of ancient Greek parody and humorous verse.

The sole known work is the Parodica, a collection of parodic poems. The text is fragmentary, with excerpts preserved primarily within the Palatine Anthology. The Parodica is comic poetry of the Roman Imperial period.

Its inclusion in the Greek Anthology marks it as part of the tradition of light and satirical verse. The fragments show the persistence of Hellenic literary forms and comic writing under Roman rule.
