Menecrates of Syracuse
Μενεκράτης ὁ Συρακούσιος

Menecrates of Syracuse, Physician to Philip II

1 work

Menecrates of Syracuse was a Greek ἱατρός of the 4th century BCE. He served Philip II of Macedon. His medical books are lost.

Later anecdotes say he had patients call him Zeus. Aulus Gellius and Aëtius of Amida quote scraps of advice. What this site holds is the fragmentary Menecrates the Physician.

The man survives here as quotation and story, not as a treatise of his own.
