Anatomy and Medicine in the Testimonies of Erasistratus of Ceos

Erasistratus of Ceos was a Greek ἱατρός of the first half of the 3rd century BCE. He had heard Theophrastus in Athens, then worked at Alexandria.

None of his books survive intact. Later writers name titles such as On Fevers and On Paralysis. What this site holds is a modern gathering, Testimonies and Fragments, drawn mainly from Galen.

The hosts speak of πνεῦμα in the vessels. That is their report of him, not a surviving autograph. A fragment here is a passage in Galen’s mouth.
