Apollonius of Citium and the Hippocratic Commentary on Joints

1 work

Apollonius of Citium, from Citium in Cyprus, worked in the 1st century BCE. He studied in Alexandria and was associated with the court of Ptolemy XII, to whom he dedicated his surviving book. Later writers group him with the ἐμπειρικοί.

What this site holds is his commentary on the Hippocratic On Joints. The book survives in a 10th-century Byzantine manuscript that carries drawings of the procedures.

His autograph stream is this commentary. It is a Greek reading of a Hippocratic surgical book, not a founder’s system.
