Diophilus or Diophila is the name attached to a handful of Hellenistic hexameters on the constellations — the Wagon, Virgo, Leo, and Boötes — edited as SH 391 in Lloyd-Jones and Parsons, Supplementum Hellenisticum (1983), pp. 179–180 (TLG 2621.001).
The verses are cited in the margins of P.Oxy. 20.2258 (Callimachus) beside Aratus, Phaenomena 148. The papyrus heading may be ἐν τῷ ἐπιγραφομένῳ Προκομίῳ. Gender of the name is unresolved in the transmission; that uncertainty is the transmitted fact.
These lines belong to the Hellenistic astronomical poetry that grew up around Aratus. They are a named fragment in SH, not an encyclopedia ghost.
