Basilis wrote Indica. Athenaeus (9) quotes book 2: the small men who fight the cranes use partridges as mounts. Agatharchides (in Photius) pairs him with Hecataeus as an eastern geographer. Pliny (NH 6.35) lists Basilis among those who wrote the measure of Meroë, after Dalion, Aristocreon, and Bion.
