εἰς Ἔρωτα οὐκ ἔστι πενίας οὐδὲν ἀθλιώτερον ἐν τῷ βίῳ σύμπτωμα· καὶ γὰρ ἂν φύσει σπουδαῖος ᾖς, πένης δέ, κατάγελως ἔσῃ.

τὸ γὰρ διάφορον καὶ φρονίμους πάντας ποεῖ, τὸ σωφρονεῖν δ’ ἔνεστιν ἐν τούτῳ μόνῳ.
