Schol. Hesiod. Opp.: Ἡ μὲν Πιερία πρότερον ὑπὸ Πιέρου κτισθεῖσα τοῦ Μεθώνης ἀδελφοῦ, πατρὸς δὲ Λίνου, Πιερία ἐκέκλητο· ὕστερον δὲ Λύγκος ἐκλήθη, ἧς καὶ τὴν ἀρχὴν ἔσχεν Ἀέροπος, ὁ πρεσβύτατος τῶν Ἠμαθίωνος παίδων, καθὰ Μελισσεύς φησιν ὁ τὰ Δελφικὰ συνταξάμενος.
